It was a sad day for the Wee County when local punk band - Liquid Pub Dugs - decided to call it a day.
The band who played extensively, not only on their doorstep but up and down the country, unanimously decided to pursue other ventures.
Drummer Justin Davidson (no relation, by the way) told me: 'We were on the brink of something special but never quite getting there - as a result the pressure became too great.
Vocalist Malcolm Brown, of Alloa, has hit the airwaves and is currently involved in radio, while bass player, Colin Drummond, of Tillicoultry, is jamming with other bands.
But before you start crying into your pint, the good news is that the band's sound lives on in a new band created with the influence of former drummer Justin.
SCARY
They are Fractal Jack and they have just released their first EP entitled The Feds Are On To Us which incidentally comes with a parental advisory sticker.
And quite right too - this is a scary, scary CD, with a lead vocalist who has the sound of Satan himself.
I kid you not, this recording will strike terror into your soul.
The music is by no means my cup of tea - it is very hardcore and very aggressive - but i have to say the lyrics are quite poetic - if at times difficult to make out.
It's definately not the sort of music that your mam of your granny would like - but if your into punk you'll love it.
The first two songs are Massacare (I'm not sure of this is a spelling mistake on the album or not!) and Gangsta Lampost and are very similar tunes with American influences.
The third track is my favourite, it's called HBN and is based on the band's favourite fizzy pop - Irn Bru.
But you would be forgiven for thinking they are singing about something else as the sexual connotations are very prominent with very raunchy verses.
Justin (26), became a full-time member of the young band after playing with them for two gigs at the Royal Albert Hall in an inter-school competition earlier this year.
He said: 'The band's parents turned up to hear them and I think they were surprised, or maybe shocked is a better word, by what they heard'.
According to Jason the lads are very talented and he thinks they are destined for great things but maintains that he is not absorbed with climbing the ladder to success - but that playing music is.
Fractal Jack are set to play the Funhouse on Hallowe'en and don't forget to get your copy of next week's paper when we have a copy of the CD and tickets to give away in a competition.
