To all what came last Wednesday to the gig at the 13th Note Cafe - thanks. We did ourselves proud and earned another one - 1st June at Stereo.

  • 08/05/05

We have a gig on June 15th at The Barfly, so see you there. Also, the profiles have been updated so why not have a little look.

  • 18/04/05

Well, well, what do we have here then? A new Jack website, that's what. Bigger, badder and better than before, the whole beast has been re-designed for greater browsability and general enjoyment. The site is (almost) valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional, which is no mean thing these days, and all the Javascript navigation has been pulled and replaced by pure CSS and HTML. The only Javascript on the site drives the popups in the Pictures section, which, incidently, has a new gallery of old school photos and is due a shit-load more soon.

So what do you think? We'll get a new poll on the go soon to get your thoughts, and will soon be reserecting the message board to get the Jack banter on the go. There is also an update to the profiles in the pipeline, so expect maximum humour in the near future.

In addition we have another gig, 18th May at the 13th Note Cafe with Modo, and hope to announce another May gig soon. See you there!

  • 03/04/05

Another gig? Thursday 7th April? Nice n' Sleazys? Surely not. But wait... it's true!

  • 17/02/05

Well hello there, strangers. Things have been a bit quiet lately on the Jack front, what with us having better things to do and all that. Things have now changed, and the boys are back in town. Not only do we bring you a brand new poll, but we joyfully announce two gigs in March, which will please fans of all persuations as one is in Edinburgh and the other Glasgow. How about that?

  • 02/08/04

Greeting, respect, and extra respect to all those who checked out our recent Cathouse gig - we played last and had a blast. As an extra special reward two new photo galleries have been unveiled, why not check them out by going to the Visuals section.

  • 30/06/04

Finally we have some more details about our upcoming triumphant return to The Cathouse. We will be playing with The Punchline is Murder, N.U.M.B., Deadites and Hatch. Door are at 7:30, with a cost of £6 on the door. Alternatively you can get tickets from us for £4, so get in touch and we'll hook you up. If you don't know us then just drop an email, sorting out a meeting won't be a problem.

  • 26/05/04

Hola... We have a gig at The Cathouse on the 25th July. It will be the usual affair and should provide maximum heaviness for all. There is another gig or two in the pipeline, but until they are confirmed they shall remain unannounced.

  • 27/04/04

We are pleased to annonuce that CNet's new music service has finally launched, and naturally we have a page - see www.download.com. You can get all the songs from the most recent demo here so why not head over and have a little look.

  • 22/04/04

You may have noticed that the poll at the top of the page has changed. Contributions to the previous one had grown stagnant so it was decided that a new one would be brought in to spice the place up. Please feel free to leave your views, even if you don't know what it's all about. Respect goes to Lammy and Eddy for the inspiration.

  • 16/04/04

The truly ferocious blast-off last night at the Barfly saw us take second place, unfortunately one place not good enough to get through to the next round. The Jack would like to thank everyone who came along and showed us support, it is genuinely appreciated and we would not have got to the semi-finals without you guys.
Getting back to business, we are pleased to announce that we have been invited to play at the first birthday of F.N.U.K. This is on the 30th April at The Big Joint and will feature many excellent DJ's, check the gigs section for more details.

  • 15/03/04

Whoa, we have just been confirmed as support to Darkest Hour and Co-Exist at King Tut's for Tuesday 16th March (tomorrow).
In addition, the date for the second Emergenza gig has been set for the 15th April at the Barfly, hope to see y'all there.

  • 04/03/04

Respect to all who made it to Rockers last night to witness us taking first place in the battle of the bands - and much respect to all you crazy guys who voted for us! The next round is at the Barfly and the date will be announced soon. All support will be appreciated and if you're really interested why not join the mailing list, then you'll know when the gig is a soon as we do.

  • 08/02/04

Some improvements have been made to the music download page due to the aquisition of a faster server to host audio files, courtesy of a shady foreigner. As it doesn't allow MP3's to be stored on it, we are in the process of converting the back catalogue to Ogg Vorbis format. This should allow you to get copies of the tunes much faster than before. Enjoy.

  • 05/02/04

Have finally recovered from the Entombed gig, and what a gig it was! Cheers to all who came along and gave us support, you crazy guys rule. Don't forget we have a gig at the beginning of March, and a mailing list that will keep you up to date when new gigs are announced. Once again thanks, and here's hoping there'll be more of the same in the future.

  • 27/01/04

Hi guys, how y'all doing? Us, well we're just fine and thanks for asking. The reason for this is that we have yet another gig to announce, a battle of the bands organised by some people called Emergenza. It's on the 3rd of March at Rockers (formerly Jaspers) and it goes without saying that all support will be appreciated as it is an audience voting situation. We are headlining and have a stage time of 22:45 so please to come and you will have a great time.

  • 22/01/04

We are happy to anounce that the Jack have scored big time - with a support slot for Entombed in King Tut's. This is a most welcome situation and will allow us to ply our trade in front of a decent crowd, which is definately when we are at our best.

  • 29/12/03

Cheers to all who came to our recent gigs, they were most triumphant and we hope you had a rocking time. We got a mention in yesterdays Sunday Mail for the King Tut's gig, which will soon be added to the now bulging press section. Why not head there now and see just how famous we are!

  • 08/12/03

As expected the Jack are beginning to pick up pace with another couple of gigs confirmed. The first, at King Tut's on the 22nd is a Joe Strummer charity night where we will be onstage to play a couple of Clash cover songs, then we make a triumphant return to The 13th Note Cafe on the 28th for a full set. Check the gigs section for more details.

  • 22/10/03

At last - the gig drought is over! With Gav back in the country soon, we have begun once again booking ourselves into Scotland's top venues. First off is a visit to Edinburgh Uni's Teviot on the 10th December... be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more announcements soon.

  • 13/10/03

Just a quick note to say that Rock Chocolate, from While The Earth Dies Screaming, is now available for download from the music section. It is also available from our mp3.com site for all y'all that like that kind of thing.
Remember, if you get this song and like it, why not participate in the poll at the top of the page?

  • 24/09/03

You may have noticed that recently all has been quiet on the Jack front, and don't worry, there is good reason for this. Due to expected circumstances, one member of the Fracticons is currently out of the country, so for the time being your daughters are safe.
But don't worry, the rest of us are busy working on the next generation of aural massage, and in anticipation of our next public appearance one critic described it as 'unmissable'.

  • 12/08/03

The site has been expanded with the addition of a new section dedicated to Rock Chocolate and a survey that you can use to get your views heard and considered. Please vote as your views are very important to us *cough*. Who knows, maybe we'll even put the song up for download in the future.
In further news, we now have our own page on mp3.com, devoted entirely to us. To be fair, it's a bit shit, but the main attraction is that it will be a reliable source of song downloads. Unfortunately, the money-grabbers that run the site limit you to a maximum of three songs unless you pay them, but I'm sure there will be some kind of rotation. Currently you can get the same songs from the new EP that you can get here, so if you're having probs downloading from here then hit www.mp3.com/fractaljack. See you all next week...

  • 30/07/03

OK ladies, listen up. The Cathouse gig next month has been pushed back, we'll let you know when we know. As compensation, we have a gig at Strawberry Fields on Monday 18th August, with same bands that we played with at Jaspers. Also, we have a King Tut's gig for the beginning of November, more details will come.

  • 14/07/03

Whoa, our gig this wednesday has been moved back a week, to the 23rd. But mark my words, it's still at McSorleys.

  • 9/07/03

Four Weddings (two new gigs) and a Funeral (one gig cancelled). In other words, the Jaspers gig on the 19th has been cancelled, but in it's place two new gigs have sprung up... next week at McSorleys and next month at The Cathouse. More details in the gigs section.

  • 24/06/03

Good news, two more Glasgow gigs are confirmed, both at Jaspers. If you missed us at The Vail then this will be the next best thing.
Additional: For your pleasure, another fine track from our most recent demo has been added for download.

  • 30/05/03

  • Check it out, we are playing a gig on Saturday at The Vail. Check the gigs section for more information. This is our first gig in ages so why not come along?

  • 21/05/03

A full Fractal Jack album, Phone Sex, is now available for download. Just go to the music section to check it out. I would generally recommend that you download the lower quality files, as they don't sound that bad, and you'll get them henry faster.

  • 28/04/03

Well well well, after a weekend of beer and burst blood vessels, we have emerged from the studio, demo in hand. We think it's totally amazing, and think you should too, so why not head to the music section and download a track. There may be a bit more fiddling to be done (you know, all that technical stuff) to make it sound better, which is why only one track is currently available. When all is done and done, clips of the other songs will be added.

  • 24/04/03

Well it's official, The Jack are hitting Homegrown this weekend to lay some carpets, if ya know what I mean. We will be recording A Joke's A Joke, Rock Chocolate, The Five Minute Thrash Workout and Staring Into The Storm. There will be some clips up on the site as soon as possible, so keep your eyes open.

  • 20/04/03

Check out the additions to the music section. There is quite a bit of history missing but the gaps will be filled in when I can remember anything else. And don't forget to download some music too!

  • 16/04/03

The Jack are poised to record a new demo, with likely studio attendence on the weekend 26th-27th April. This will be our first recording with Andy, and is most likely to be seriously heavy. I'll keep ya up to date with this one.
One another note, a new addition to the site can be found in the Members section. No, it's not a saxophone player, but the chance for you, yes you, to see how it feels to be in the Fracticon (sort of). Some of you may remember this feature (but probably won't) from the old site, and it's exactly the same as it was. A bit crap. But hey, enough of my yakkin', go and check it out!

  • 14/03/03

    WITHOUT GIG...

Unfortunately yesterdays King Tuts gig had to be cancelled because those tinks Without Face decided to cancel at the last minute, despite efforts from ourselves and Second Skin to sell enough tickets between the two bands to make it a viable gig for Tuts to put on. Apologies to anyone who turned up, I bet you were probably nearly as pissed off as we were.

  • 04/03/03

Like a bulldozer running away from it's annual bath, the additions are pouring in to the site. Check out the downloads page for an excellent Fractal Jack desktop image, created by our very own Andy.

  • 02/03/03

Whoa, what's going on here. Well, this is a new Fractal Jack web page, by the way. It will replace the other sites to become a central source of all knowledge Jack related. If you don't believe me then have a look.

  • 16/02/03

  • Arrgh, it seems that we ain't playing in Edinburgh this week, so I can only apologise to potential attendees of this gig. At least you heard about this one in advance.
As a result of this, the date has been removed from the gig listings.

  • 06/02/03

Happy new year, beloved followers of the Jack. Yes it may be a bit late, but I don't remember recieving any good tidings from your end of the stick.

As ever, there is lots of news and the like that you should be tuned in to. Most importantly, we have a permanent replacement for Justin. And who else should it be, but Jack-of-all-trades Andy, who is also the drummer in Glasgow uber-goth outfit Left Hand Element. For more info about Andy and his habits, check out Faz's profile.
Gigwise, hope all who attended King Tut's on the 18th had a rocking good time, 'cause we sure as hell did. Thanks for coming along (if you did) as we got a good response which as ever serves to increase the magnitude of our egos. And the good news is that we have a second gig there, sheduled for March 13th, supporting Without Face. Second Skin are joining us in support of this band, which I feel is reason enough to come along. We also have a gig in Edinburgh soon, so as usual check the gig listings for details.

  • 04/11/02

    JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED...

As of last week Justin is no longer the drummer in Fractal Jack. The split was amicable with no hard feelings, but the band will be changed forever after Justin's five years of loyal service to the cause. We are currently practicing with another drummer to ensure that the upcoming gigs give you the best in metal that five tinks can offer, and hope that this change will not alter your opinion that the Jack stand for all that is good in this dark world.

We wish Justin all the best in his musical future, and hope that our paths will cross in the near future.

Additionaly, two more excellent gigs are confirmed, just check the gig listings for details.

  • 09/10/02

Long time no speak folks, but don't worry, the Jack are still here. We've managed to plot another Cathouse gig for the 28th November. The last one was grrrreat, so if you fancy some old-time rock and or roll, make it a date.

  • 06/08/02

Check it out, another Cathouse gig announced. Also, keep your eyes peeled for another gig announcement soon.

  • 23/07/02

Apologies to anyone who went to Falkirk on Saturday to see us, as we were told not to play a couple of days before. The whole thing stinks of cheese and has left a mighty sour taste in my mouth, so rest assured you're not the only peeved citizens.

  • 03/07/02

Whoa, check it out, we have a gig this Saturday at The Engine Room in Falkirk. We'll probably be selling CD's, so bring all your fifty pences. See y'all there.

  • 09/06/02

We have a support slot confirmed for the 11th July at the Cathouse. We're rocking it with a band called Seven Years Dead, so make of that what you will.

  • 19/05/02

A couple more tasty gigs lined up, one in Falkirk, and another in a forrest (possibly the one where The Blair Witch Project was filmed, though we understand Wales is quite a long way away if you can't be arsed travelling). Why not check them out?
A few photos from the tour have been added to the Yahoo Groups home page, so in order to see them you will have to join the mailing list. Cunning, eh?

  • 02/05/02

Wooh! The tour is done and it was a complete peach. Respect to everyone out on da road, the whole thing was crazy, and everyone gave each other total support. We even managed to get ourselves banned from the 13th Note (oops), and supposedly Sleazys and King Tuts as well, so hopefully you can imagine the madness. With any luck you won't have to wait too long to see some photos and possibly even videos up here or on Faz's site, so keep 'em peeled.

  • 23/04/02

Unfortunately due to problems with venue organisation, the Aberdeen tour date and the unconfirmed date on the 26th have been cancelled. Fear not, though, as there will be more dates announced in the near future for the end of May, and hopefully June as well.

  • 13/04/02

A Fractal Jack mailing list has now been set up, meaning you can get all your Jack related news by e-mail. All Jack-wise discussions are encouraged, so why not join up...

  • 11/04/02

Slight re-design of pages. From now on, news will be posted on this page as it happens, then archived back to the old news page.
There has been another tour date anounced for the 23rd in Leeds, but unfortunately us and Eyebolt cannot make it. So it will just be Second Skin and Left Hand Element, who are playing on all the English dates.

  • 26/03/02

The boys are back in town. Lots of towns. Quite literally.
In other words, we a-goin' on tour at the end of April with Eyebolt and Second Skin. I hear Left Hand Element may be playing at a couple of shows as well, so it will be without a doubt seriously rocking. Why not take a peek and see if we're coming to your lowly 'burgh, 'cause next day we'll be on our way, ready to rock the socks from some other lucky folks.

  • 20/03/02

Holay Holay, Holay Holay!! What's that all about, I don't know, but there are some more tasty gigs.

  • 21/02/02

Another Cathouse gig anounced, plus some more details for the others.

  • 12/02/02

The next bit of news is not exactly connected to the band (or is it??), but has certainly been a big part of my life recently, and that is that Frankie Dettori has released his own line of pizzas. They come with my highest recommendation, plus they are currently half price in Iceland.

  • 04/02/02

More details plus another gig on the gigs page.

  • 14/01/02

Lots more gigs on the gigs page. Look there now.
Also, new band profiles on Faz's pages.

  • 17/12/01

Our recent gig at the Cathouse in Glasgow was hailed by all as a success. It's likely that our heads will be slightly bigger after that one.
